Plane ridiculous

All three letters in response to mine about Concorde (18 March) are based on the premise that the state has the right to punish success with tax and reward failure with subsidy because all money belongs to the state, to expropriate when it sees fit.

By definition, the super-rich do not need subsidies and never have. There is no moral or practical justification for such a course of action.

Such subsidies destroy actual, productive jobs and create fake ones that raise living standards only for the politically favoured and lower living standards for those who have to pay for them.

The simple fact is that the Concorde was a Potemkin village with wings and no amount of lateral thinking or elevating emotion over reason can change this.
