BIGGART Baillie has announced the appointment of Wayne Lawrence as its new head of corporate. He has been a partner at the firm for more than 13 years.

• TURCAN Connell has announced the promotion of three of its solicitors to partner with effect from 1 April. Gillian Crandles is promoted in the family law team, Grierson Dunlop in the land and property team and Gavin McEwan in the charity law group.

• A NEW senior partner has been appointed at Fife law firm Murray Donald Drummond Cook LLP.

John Leith will take over from John Angus on 1 April after he steps back from a role he has held for almost 27 years. Meanwhile, Sue Arrowsmith Rodger, an associate with the firm, has become one of the first lawyers in Scotland to complete the STEP Diploma for Scotland (Trusts and Estates).

• BRODIES has announced the hire of associate Mark Lindsay from a major London firm. He is a dual qualified pensions lawyer and will join the firm's Glasgow office.

THE agriculture, estates and business resources team of Pagan Osborne has launched the Agricultural Law Advisory Service, designed to provide law firms across the country with agricultural law support to their clients.

• AN EMPLOYMENT law Group has been formed at the Faculty of Advocates under the chairmanship of QCs Brian Napier and Ian Truscott.

The Faculty of Advocates Employment Law Group will see James Peoples QC act as vice-chairman, with Aidan O'Neill QC treasurer and Maurice O'Carroll secretary.

Advocates Alice Stobart, David Hay, Greg Cunningham, Juliette Casey and Nicholas Holroyd have also joined as committee members of the group, which has invited other members of Faculty to join.

EVENTS

• LENZIE Academy represented Scotland at the UK Bar National Mock Trial Competition in the Court of Session last week.

The team could not hold off eventual winners Whitley Bay High School who won the contest, judged by Lord Hamilton.
