Party share

The problem William Ballantyne has with his 20 per cent winner concept at the 2015 general election (Letters, 16 October) is that the pesky SNP arguably has 1.6 million potential votes in its back pocket, all to itself, while the other four or five parties have only a share of the two million who voted No.

Commentators are already contemplating more than 30 Scottish seats going to the SNP. That won’t half put the cat among the pigeons.

The Unionist parties are going to have to put aside the re-emerged hatred they have for one another, and again train their venom upon the SNP.

It’s not as if a form of proportional representation would make a difference, any more than it did in the 2011 Holyrood elections, when it was geared against any one party, ie, the SNP, gaining an overall majority.
