In my opinion, Free Church of Scotland minister Rev David Robertson could not be more wrong when he says the comedy Rev reveals the BBC’s “anti-Christian agenda” (your report, 2 May).

Rev is not a documentary. It’s a bitter-sweet comedy drama that depicts a kind, hard-working and – most of all, human – vicar.

Those of us who may not know the ins and outs of church business are given an engaging opportunity to see what kind of challenges members of the clergy face, in terms of Church administration, congregational issues and matters of personal faith.

If anything, it has resulted in many agnostics and atheists of my acquaintance gaining some affection for the Church which they did not previously have.
