Papal ecology

Rev Dr Cameron (Letters, 17 June) concerns himself with the contents of the papal encyclical “Laudato Si, On the Care of Our Common Home” due today.

Reading into Pope Francis’ previous statements on ecology, specifically his 5 June General Audience, what we do know so far is that the encyclical will be rooted in the John Paul II and Benedict XVI concept of “human ecology”, address economic matters, and be linked to human life issues.

Rev Cameron can be assured that the sacramental life of
the Catholic Church will make this encyclical pro-creation
and that the Church will continue to defend the goodness of creation.
