Over a barrel

Many nationalists continue to sport a “45” badge on their social media profile photographs.

But what does this number actually mean? Is it a reference to the 44.7 per cent of referendum voters (37.7 per cent of the electorate) who’d hoped to remove Scotland from the United Kingdom?

Is it a reference to an 18th century Jacobite battle?

Or is it, perhaps, an embarrassed nod to the dollar price of a barrel of oil?
