Out with a bang

Edinburgh Zoo’s choice of a dinosaur display to educate on threats to existing wildlife (your report, 8 January) is, at first glance, slightly surprising.

Presumably their message will emphasise concerns of climate change rather than of direct human activities given that the extinction of dinosaurs is attributed to a “meteor winter” long predating mankind.

Also, of course, if dinosaurs had survived that climatic catastrophe, it is likely that neither zoos nor Scotsman readers, nor indeed any other form of highly intelligent life, would have ever evolved.
