Orange march

I was very interested to read that the Orange Order has been given permission to stage a huge parade in Edinburgh in support of a No vote, just a few days before the referendum (your report, 23 July).

I would be curious to see if the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland has done any research into how its activities influence people’s political opinions.

If anything, I can’t help thinking the parade might have the opposite effect to that intended by the organisers.

Both sides in the referendum have activists who do more harm than good to their respective causes.

It must be quite a headache for the leaders.
