Options open on Queen St station

CONTRARY to the speculative piece which appeared in Scotland on Sunday (News, 1 September), we have no plans to close Glasgow Queen Street station for “more than a year” as we deliver the Edinburgh-Glasgow Improvement Programme.

We are still evaluating a number of options for works at the station, but a long-term closure is not among them. Network Rail completes enhancements in a way which disrupts passengers the least and the option chosen for Queen Street will be no different, which should be a relief to passengers and other station users who may have been unnecessarily alarmed by the article.
