Open’s future

Of THE nine courses in the UK currently used as venues for the (British) Open Championship, five of them are in Scotland.

With the Open under way at Royal Liverpool I would like to ask, through the courtesy of your columns, Peter Dawson, chief executive of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club: if there is a Yes vote on 18 September, what will happen to the staging of future Open Championships?

The event is scheduled for Royal Troon in 2016 and Carnoustie in 2018.
