Open concessions

FOLLOWING on from Mike Wilkinson (Letters, 23 July), I would like to point out that the R&A recently abolished the concession price for pensioners for the Open Golf tournament.

When I questioned this, at the time, I was informed that this had been done to bring it into line with other, unspecified, organisations.

I wonder how many pensioners decided enough was enough and did not attend this year’s Open at Muirfield?

The R&A could also bring the £15 car-park charge “into line” with, for example, the Royal Highland Show where the charge this year was £8.

A day out at the Open has simply become too expensive.
