Online safety

Recent reports about online safety and the Conservatives’ proposals to prohibit under-18s having access to what is commonly known as adult material can only meet with the approval of any caring parent.

It may not please certain commercial interests or persons who have a warped sense of morals, but the proposals deserve support from every responsible person and organisation.

In particular I would single out the Scottish Parliament as having a duty to support these proposals even if they do not agree with the UK Government.

History is littered with dreadful examples of the rising up of nationalist movements to make us beware of getting carried away by seemingly idealistic sentiment, so one would like to see more of a moral foundation to current political parties. This particular issue would be an opportunity for the Scottish parties to uphold what is right.
