One for all

As shareholders in Aggreko plc, my wife and I are grateful to Pensions and Investment Research Consultants (10 April) for drawing attention to the enormous sums awarded by the company’s directors to their chief executive officer, Rupert Soames, and for recommending restraint.

We are also grateful for the success of the company in building a world-class business and investing heavily in its base at Dumbarton but we wonder whether the company’s profits could not, with more advantage, be directed towards more investment, more benefits for their other workers and even better dividends for their hard-pressed shareholders.

What can any one individual do with remuneration of £8
million in a single year?
