Once in a lifetime

I watched the conference speech of Nigel Farage on TV, where he said he wanted to leave a political union, the EU
(his party shares many similiarities with the SNP ).

He came out with the immortal words, concerning the forthcoming EU referendum: “It will be a once in a lifetime event.”

Strange, I seem to have heard these words before – do Nicola Sturgeon and Farage share the same speechwriter?
