Oil revenues

Ian Lakin (Letters, 12 August) once again (but who knows why?) re-heats the question of oil revenues.

However, for the umpteenth time and maybe The Scotsman will finally do us the courtesy of asking this proud Scot, if the Scottish economy is such a basket case of subsidy junkies, why is the UK so desperate to hang onto us?

And why is it that the arguments of people such as Mr Lakin are having precisely zero effect on the voting intentions of the Scottish public?
