Oil a crucial topic

Thomas Burgess (Letters, 27 October) once again displays the tactics of nationalists who attack 
anyone who raises the tiniest question against independence.

Brian Wilson is an energy expert, and his column pointing out the crashing oil price, below $80 at one point this week, is not negative, or anti-Scottish – it is the simple stating of facts.

I too am deeply concerned that the oil price is dropping so dramatically. This is terrible news for public funding in this country and it is terrible news for investment in the North Sea.

To state this doesn’t make me anti-Scottish or talking my country down, in fact it is displaying the normal characteristics of someone who wants the facts and indeed wants to protect his country’s public services and tax revenues.
