Oh rubbish
Clark Cross (Letters, 19 May) is right. Edinburgh is comprehensively provided with public and private rubbish and recycling bins.
However, a stroll down almost any street will show how many people are indifferent to them, dropping or even throwing their rubbish away, often only a few yards away from a bin.
Stricter application of the law and the imposition of fines might help; so too would the incentive of deposit and return.
