Officer politics

Police Scotland has been
accused of treating female officers like “numbers on a piece of paper” (your report, 19 July).

The Scottish Police Federation says there has been a surge in complaints by female officers who were not granted flexible working. Due to economic cutbacks the police force does not have surplus officers or the finance to cover for them.

Women demanded and received equal pay, equal salaries and equal conditions so why grant them flexible working arrangements, leaving men having to work overtime and anti-social shifts to cover for them?
