Numbers game

Andrew HN Gray (Letters, 14 May) states that “David Cameron has every right to do what he wants as, despite our bizarre electoral system handing them 56 seats, the SNP do not run the UK and, as leader of the largest (and governing) party, he does”.

Has he had an irony bypass?

He and other unionist correspondents seem to take great delight in pointing out that the SNP won only 35.6 per cent of the eligible votes in Scotland but have no concerns that the Tories, as governing party, won only 24.3 per cent of the eligible votes in the UK and 10.6 per cent in Scotland.
