Nuclear safety
Believing that we will need nuclear energy to keep our lights on, as used safely in many countries for many years, I have never been a supporter of SNP energy policy.
However, I must agree with Alex Salmond and your editorial (29 May) that Able Seaman McNeilly’s whistleblowing allegations deserve a more independent investigation than they have so far received.
I would have more confidence in Ministry of Defence assurances from Michael Fallon and minister Penny Mordaunt if they had not seemingly been so ready to accept that Seaman McNeilly, absent without leave for many days, had “returned to duty without any charge”.
Is our Royal Navy really getting so soft on Awol?
