Off note

Why no review of the superb Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra concert at the Usher Hall on Monday? As one who attends all Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and Scottish Chamber Orchestra concerts plus many Edinburgh International Festival events this one was so great it outclassed everything heard this year.

Neither the Mozart 5th violin concerto nor the Mahler 6th symphony could have been better played. This orchestra was flawless in every department and directed with great skill by Stéphane Denève.

He surely has a future great as I recognised in his RSNO days. Shame on you!
