Not so city slicker

I WAS greatly intrigued by Lee Randall's article (17 July). She reveals that she spent a year in an old English city that had a wonderful cathedral; and this was a place called Durham in Northumberland.

I'd be grateful if she could tell us the exact location. The only Durham City I know is in Co Durham, and I'd love to visit Ms Randall's other one to make some comparisons.

The other puzzling point was when she talked of "the site of belted Galloways". Did she mean the field or "the sight of"?
