Not another pub

I was dismayed to hear the news that Wetherspoon has finally been given the go-ahead to convert the Picture House on Edinburgh’s Lothian Road into a super-pub.

What is it with our council? Edinburgh city centre is literally awash with drinking venues and they are still handing out 
licences for more.

At a time when we are constantly being warned about the risks of excessive drinking, and A&E is swamped with drunks every weekend, just what we need is yet another pub.

The Picture House has provided an intimate setting to see some great bands over the years, and should have been retained for that purpose – it also provided drink!
