None the verse

Prince Charles recently urged the need to restore “a climate of care and compassion” in the NHS. These are the very words I used in a Limerick I gave to those who looked after my wife and me when we, between us, got three new knees.

The wonderful nurses of Perth

Go at it for all they are worth;

Now don’t get me wrong –

Not wine, men and song

But care, with compassion and mirth.

I would say the same about treatment I have received for cancer at National Health Service hospitals in Livingston, Edinburgh, Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline but Perth is easier to rhyme.
