No tax issues

I wanted to reply to a point raised in a recent letter (30 May), which referenced the closure of the Avondale materials recycling facility. Your correspondent Clark Cross questioned how much taxpayers’ money had been invested in the plant.

I can reassure your readers that the plant was developed 
entirely with private capital funding at no expense to the taxpayer.

We are, of course, disappointed that we have had to close the plant, but we are working very hard to find a solution that will enable us to reopen it when the market conditions and necessary infrastructure are in place to support the country’s zero waste ambitions.
