No belief in God

In response to Martin Blackshaw (Letters, 12 December), an atheist is simply someone who does not believe in the existence of God.

As such, it is impossible for atheists to deny their creator since they do not believe such a thing exists.

Precisely what all of this has to do with nuclear bombs being dropped on Japan is anyone’s guess, however.
