Nicola Sturgeon accused of 'lying' on BBC over Salmond allegations by Tories - your views

Ross accusation

Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross has accused First Minister Nicola Sturgeon of lying on the BBC’s Andrew Marr show

Interviewed by someone who is not afraid to upset her took her out her comfort zone. You could clearly see that with the uncomfortable expressions on her face. She still managed to tell bare-faced lies on everything that was put to her - pity her followers will still believe her.

Should Ross not be focusing on Tory matters? He spends more time berating the SNP and playing football than doing any actual work! Do the Tories not have any actual policies they value for their constituents?

Ann Marie Taylor

Accused of lying by Tories! This is a contradiction in terms, especially from Dross who changes his story as often as the wind blows in all directions. Numpties.

Marie McCairns

Given that he represents the lying UK government, Dross accusing anyone of lying is hypocrisy of the highest level. I expect that the irony is lost on him.

Steafan Lindsay

How much longer is this woman going to be First Minister? She must not be allowed to carry on in the job she is incapable of doing. Outside of Parliament she would have been sacked long ago.

Nancy Skelton

Alex Salmond has already been acquitted by the High Court. The Tories are desperately trying to dig up a non-story.

Duncan Robertson

Poor Douglas. Failing in the polls, he’s taken to smearing. Bye Dross.

Andrew Mcbean

Don’t the Saint Nicola fans get upset when someone asks her a few pertinent questions? Can feel the seethe from here.

Leanne Blake

Andrew Marr made her squirm on TV, plenty of lies and face twitching from her as she does not like the truth when questioned.

Ms Sturgeon responded: “There is a parliamentary inquiry under way, there is an inquiry into my conduct in terms of the ministerial code. I think it is important to allow these inquiries to take their course." Yes, Ms Sturgeon, so do we, the Scottish people. And for that to be able to happen, your government needs to release the documents requested as part of the inquiry. This whole thing stinks.

Cameron McLeod

Marr got knocked on his butt all the way through the interview.

HS2 north

Plans for three hour Scotland-London rail trips must be fast tracked so HS2 does not provide “disproportionate benefits” to the south of England, a Scottish government official has warned.

If Keith Brown were to get his way with independence, it's very unlikely that HS2 would get extended to Scotland both because it would no longer be a priority for London, but also because demand for rail travel would be likely to fall with the creation of a hard border.

Riccardo Di Maggio

HS2 money would be better spent reviving as many of the old lines destroyed by Beecham as possible. Just look how the one in the Scottish borders area has been so well used.

Ron Mcdonald

I'd rather thousands of acres of ancient woodland were not destroyed. A single 1000-year-old oak contains more biodiversity than a thousand 100-year-old oaks. The habitat destruction for this is unforgivable. I'd rather be on the train a couple of hours more than what they have done. Don't claim to support the environment on one hand, and then support its destruction on the other.

AC Burke

Do we even need high-speed trains? Business can easily remote conference and electron /photons travel between Glasgow and London a lot faster than a train. And tourism doesn't need high-speed trains, just dependable, affordable trains.

John Graham

Hang on! So now the SNP want to have better connections to London. I thought their plan was to disconnect. If it cost £100 billion to get to Birmingham, it will be another !100 billion to reach Newcastle. Will an independent Scotland pay the final £100 billion to link Glasgow and Edinburgh to HS2 if it ever reaches Newcastle or Carlisle?

Ken Mckenzie

This would be great. Maybe we can replace the current steam engine stock with high speed rail travel. I’m sure we should be modelling ourselves on a country like japan.
