New Orleans day

Today is going to be interesting for several reasons, both present events and commemorations of the past.

Among others we should remember 8 May, 1429 when Joan of Arc made her triumphal entry to that city after a siege.

French military records note that she entered to the tune which we now know as Scots Wha Hae, though it has had many other names and uses.

Scots had taken part both in the defence of Orleans and in the relief force which Joan led. Scotland and France at that time, though separate countries, shared mutual citizenship.
