Names have been changed, but for whose protection?

DESPERATE, hard working, bored, frustrated. All words we've heard used to describe housewives over the years, but what I heard this week really took the proverbial Hob Nob.

It would appear that the good ladies of The Scottish Women's Rural Institute have spent a great deal of time debating the use of the term "housewife" and its relevance in today's society.

There is a part of the aforementioned organisation called the Housewives Committee, and they feel that the term housewife is no longer relevant and want it changed.

Apparently, it is perceived by some as slightly derogatory and somewhat dismissive, so other suggestions are being mooted.

One slightly tongue-in-cheek (at least I sincerely hope it's tongue-in-cheek) suggestion is to use the title Domestic Goddess instead.
