With nail

One of the photo captions in your newspaper (12 July) reads: “Terry Nutkins, who the nature trail near Oban is a tribute to”.

Am I the only one who would feel more comfortable if this were to read: “Terry Nutkins, to whom the nature trail near Oban is a tribute”?

As my old granny used to say: “A preposition is something you should never end a sentence with …”
