Murphy’s method

The assessment of Peter Jones (Perspective, 17 February) regarding Jim Murphy’s recent comments on the Barnett Formula that “there is so much wrong with your calculation and your political logic that you need to go back to the drawing board” was clearly not taken to heart by Mr Murphy and his band of spin doctors.

Added to the growing list of misrepresentations and untruths uttered by Mr Murphy are his recent claims around cancelled NHS operations which, although reported by the BBC, have been found to be misleading.

Scott McNab (19 February) reported that health secretary Shona Robison requested an apology from Mr Murphy over his “wrongful” claims but, perhaps not surprisingly, none has been forthcoming from Mr Murphy or from Labour health spokeswoman Jenny Marra, or for that matter from the BBC news programme concerned.
