Mortifying filth

Scotland will never be taken seriously as a proud nation if we have no pride in our appearance. Dropping litter and an inability to tackle the problem or clean it up is unacceptable. How can the verges of the A90 between Cramond and the Forth Road Bridge be so disgusting?

As a proud Scot, I am mortified that nobody seems to give a damn that this approach to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe is little better than a sewer. The camera technology exists to facilitate prosecutions and fines but the police don't seem to bother.

The councils farm out highway maintenance to private contractors then neither party bothers. We, the public, don't see it or care enough to make a fuss. The Scottish Government needs to get a grip on this or watch tourism revenue and national self-respect decline.
