Moral line

Paul Brownsey (Letters, 21 January) is correct: my “position is that assisted suicide can never be allowed, no matter what the circumstances or safeguards”.

Crossing the moral line and endorsing the killing of one human by another has profound implications for a society.

These implications may take decades or longer to fully manifest, but, once killing is sanctioned in some circumstances, logic will demand that the “right to die” be progressively extended towards involuntary euthanasia and suicide on demand on the NHS.
