MoD’s contempt

Last week the residents of Ardentinny on Loch Long near the Ministry of Defence Coulport munition store were terrified by 23 massive explosions intensive enough to shake houses and remove pictures from the walls.

Why was this kept secret from nearby residents? The MoD says there was no danger and “nothing to worry about”, but concerned locals phoned the police while farm animals ran amok in fields.

Many of us thought that the contempt in which the Scottish people were held was a thing of the past. How wrong we were. We were led to believe that the Scottish Environment Protection Agency to be monitoring such practices.
