Why doesn’t Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne just get on with it and announce a £7 minimum wage and let the poor paying employers bleat about making less profit?

Taxpayers will rejoice as the working tax credit bill should therefore go down. Consumers then pay the real price for what they want without the rest of us subsidising them, and the employers profit, through vehicles such as tax credits.
