Medical resources

Given that our NHS leviathan is a financial black hole there must be some rationing and the UN health targets seeking to reduce premature deaths in younger people is one way.

I am 72, have had a wonderful life with a happy 45-year marriage, children and grandchildren but my daily golf leaves me in no doubt that I am moving down that last long decline.

We can use pejorative terms such as ageism but the fact is my life is not now as important as that of a man in his 40s with dependent children or a young mother suffering from cancer.

With Boomers likely to outlive their four score years we need a rational debate about scarce medical resources and if that includes a one-way ticket to Zurich I can hardly complain.
