Media alliances

GERRY Hassan (Opinion, 11 March) lays bare the culture of Labour patronage at a political level, which has led to recent scandals in local and Westminster government. However, the problem is not just a political one.

The media, in particular broadcasting, is filled with former Labour party politicians, researchers and supporters with a resulting bias which sometimes makes me wonder if we don't live in a one-party state.

It is also ludicrous that not a single Scottish newspaper supports the independence cause or its major advocate, the SNP. Ridding our corridors of power of Labour cronyism needs to be done, but we also need a renewed pluralist media to reflect Scotland as it is now, not as it was 20 years ago.
