Mammals important

The Royal Society of the Protection of Birds and Scottish Natural Heritage will spend October on the Uists hunting hedgehogs with dogs and then shooting them with shotguns. While I support the survival of the wading-bird population of the islands, the hedgehog is an indigenous mammal on he mainland, and in the hands of experts such as the British Hedgehog Preservation Trust they can be very successfully relocated on the mainland.

Birds are important, but so are British mammals.
