Love in the air

How heartwarming to see that married couples in Scotland appear to have found the key to long-lasting love, and that 78 per cent of couples said that settling down had made them happier (your report, 9 July).

But I must take issue with two points raised by the article. Firstly, the psychologist quoted warned that not discussing problems was an entrenched trait in the Scottish psyche. As a relative newcomer to Scotland, I can't say I've ever seen any evidence of this.

Secondly, the expert from Relationships Scotland said: "There are all sorts of social pressures leaving people not wanting to admit to ... not having sex 50 per cent of the time." Goodnes me, even on honeymoon my husband and I didn't have sex 50 per cent of the time.
