Lost regiment

I was sad to read that the Liverpool Scottish regiment is to be “lost” as a result of reorganisation (your report, 4 July).

My husband served in the Liverpool Scottish during the war from 1942-47.

It may be thought a strange regiment for him to have been posted to as he was born in Edinburgh and lived all his life in Edinburgh, but on gaining his commission at Sandhurst at the age of 19, he was posted to the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, and from there to the Liverpool Scottish, which was the Liverpool battalion of the “Camerons”.
