Looking back

Ed Taylor (Letters, 6 May) says that even though he may vote Yes to separate from England, he admires many aspects of its
people.

I, with my contemporaries who lived in Scotland during the war, had the highest admiration for the people of London who, night after night, left their homes to go to the underground stations because of the relentless bombing, not knowing if they would have a home to return to.

The children and grandchildren of these people are still there and I am proud to be British with them.

Perhaps as well as looking to the future we should look back.
