London calling

The elected mayor of Newham, London, Sir Robin Wales, from Ayrshire, accuses Scots of "narrow nationalism" and states that "Scotland gets very generous funding" – not as generous as the funding London receives (your report, 29 January).

Only Northern Ireland gets more public funding than London and of course Scots, as the second-highest taxpayers, contribute to the "pork barrel" that is London. The other 11 of the "regions and nations" of Britain would love a fraction of the public spending London receives – the Dome, Docklands, the new British Library, Crossrail and the Olympics.
