Logo no-no

I could not believe Glasgow had paid £95,000 to have a logo for the Commonwealth Games designed (your report, 9 March).

Now it appears that this ultra expensive logo is a near replica of a design it produced three years ago (your report, 10 March). If the council set up a competition for Scotland's art colleges, offering a prize of a few thousand pounds, students could have come up with many acceptable and original designs and saved the taxpayer several tens of thousands of pounds.
