Load of rubbish

I agree with David Roche (Letters, 23 March). I play golf on a number of courses in the Edinburgh area and on every round I pick up a load of drinks bottles and snack wrappers, despite most courses having a rubbish bin on every tee. I have also noted recently, since the council announced a charge for collection of bulky items, there has been a sudden increase in the dumping of items such as mattresses near the disposal area at Braehead. We certainly live in a throwaway society.
