Living off the fat

The story about Hairmyres Hospital in South Lanarkshire serving fatty, stodgy meals to heart patients (your report, 24 June) reminds me of my childhood dentist giving us lollipops after each painful drilling. Presumably he did it to ensure repeat custom. If that hospital had been a private one, a cynic might suggest it was using similar tactics in order to keep business booming.
