Little Britain

In the recent correspondence on Ukip, the essential irony of the situation has been lost.

Alex Orr (Letters, 4 March) berated Ukip as “Little Englanders”. He seems totally unaware of the glaring contradiction, that, in a UK context, members of his party are “Little Scotlanders”.

They are trying to do exactly the same thing, down even to many of the arguments and phrases used to “prove” the  separation case.

In fact, all the things that make Ukip unpleasant and unbelievable and unlikely ever to win a referendum, apply equally to the SNP.
