Litter problem

When reading Graeme McCormick's letter about 50p deposits (3 April), it reminded me of the time I wrote to Downing St about this problem when Mrs Thatcher was prime minister. I received three A4 pages in reply from one of her aides, explaining the importance of market forces and why this would not be feasible. Nothing changes; we just keep talking about it and doing nothing.
