Limited success

So, “Twenty is plenty” (Letters, 16 March). But plenty for what? Plenty more congestion, as cars created to drive comfortably at 30mph crawl along at 20mph? Plenty more pollution as cars chug along in second and third gear, increasing the carbon monoxide levels?

How will a 20mph limit possibly improve people’s lives? Drivers will become frustrated and angry. Pedestrians will see no difference, as they will be on the pavement. By all means, create more crossings, but leave the cars on the road and the pedestrians on the pavement. This is another crazy nanny scheme. We must oppose it.
