Letters: Not separation

Ian Lewis (Letters, 20 April) accuses me of inappropriate use of the word “pejorative” to describe the constant use by Unionists of the word “separation”.

However, it is perfectly accurate since separation is itself totally inappropriate. Unionists constantly misuse the word because it implies physical separation and as surely even Mr Lewis knows Scotland could not be separated from the rest of the UK because they are part of the same land mass.

What the SNP is seeking is independence, which will enable Scotland to be governed in the interests of all its people, while still maintaining cultural, social and trading ties with England and Wales.
