Letters: James MacMillan claim is gossip

COMPOSER James MacMillan eavesdrops on a private conversation and uses anecdotal, uncorroborated gossip to support his opinion that “the SNP need [a] reservoir of anti-Englishness to power their secessionist agenda” (News, 15 January).

Funnily enough, I once heard two people discuss how they knew someone who had a cousin who met someone with a neighbour who could hum one of his tunes.

WORKING in England, only the other day I overheard how Alex Salmond would win the independence referendum because “stupid Glaswegians” don’t know what’s good for them. Just one example of more than a few. James MacMillan should realise that, sadly, it plays both ways.
